Martin McEvilly, who was born in Galway and was the oldest man in Ireland, passed just a few months after turning 108, reports Independnet.

Mr. McEvilly, a native of Rosscahill, passed away on Wednesday, October 9, in the company of his devoted family.

Mr. McEvilly was the lone survivor of his family of eleven siblings, having been born on July 26, 1916, only months after the Easter Rising, reports Independnet.

Mr. McEvilly has always been passionate about politics, family, and faith.

Mr. McEvilly has lived all of his life at Rosscahill, where he farmed the land and reared his family, despite the fact that many of his siblings and sisters left Ireland and never came back, reports Independnet.

On January 7, 1946, he wed Kathleen, his adored wife.
