An Irish national has sadly passed away in Thailand after falling from a moving train.

The deceased has been named as 45-year-old Patrick Ward. It’s understood that he was attempting to take a selfie or a photo of a scenic area from the side of the train when he sadly fell out.

It’s understood that he was trying to take the picture as the train was passing over a well-known local scenic spot.

Tributes have been paid on social media to the young man with some local media claiming the man was taking a selfie, while others say he was leaning over trying to take a photo of a scenic area.

It’s understood Mr Ward was a tourist in the area and not living in Thailand.
