Tributes are being offered to a young Irish athlete who tragically died while taking part in the Edinburgh Half Marathon on May 25th, reports Breaking News.

The death of 24-year-old Olivia Tuohy has left the Ennis community, where she was from, in deep shock.

Her family shared a heartfelt tribute, saying: “Olivia, a bright and beautiful spirit, passed away on the 25th May while participating in the Edinburgh Half Marathon.

“Olivia’s bubbly personality and kind heart will be deeply missed by all who knew her’’, reports Breaking News.

Clare Ladies football also paid their respects, stating: “We are deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Olivia Tuohy.

“Her kindness, warmth, and vibrant spirit touched so many lives on and off the football field, and her absence will be felt profoundly, reports Breaking News.

“Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences go out to her family, friends, her partner and all who loved her during this difficult time. May she rest in peace’,” reports Breaking News.

The Banner Ladies football club shared their sorrow as well: “We wish to express our sadness at the passing of our friend and former teammate Olivia Tuohy, daughter of Liz and Kieran.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with her parents, her brother Stephen, her partner Michael, and her family at this sad time. May her gentle soul rest in peace,” reports Breaking News.

A minute of silence was observed at all matches held in Clare yesterday as a mark of respect.

Olivia is mourned by her parents Kieran and Liz, her brother Stephen and his partner Laura, and her partner Michael. Funeral arrangements have yet to be announced, reports Breaking News.

News of Olivia’s passing follows the recent death of another female runner during the Cork Marathon on Sunday, June 1st.

That runner collapsed close to the finish line on Patrick Street and received immediate assistance from emergency responders on site, reports Breaking News.

The incident took place just after midday, and Cork City Council later confirmed the runner’s death.

Cork City Council issued a statement: “Cork City Council is deeply saddened to confirm that a participant in the Cork City Marathon has tragically passed away,” reports Breaking News.
