
A motorcyclist in his 40s has lost his life following a road accident in County Mayo, reports RTE.
The crash happened on the R331 at Friarsquarter East in Ballinrobe, shortly after 7.40pm Tuesday evening.
The man was declared dead at the scene, and no other vehicles were involved in the collision, reports RTE.
His remains were taken to Mayo University Hospital, where a post-mortem examination will be carried out.
The road was temporarily closed to allow for a technical investigation but has since been reopened to traffic.
Gardaà are asking for witnesses to come forward, especially anyone who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) from the area between 7.30pm and 8.30pm. They are asked to contact Claremorris Garda Station on 094 937 2080, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station, reports RTE.
