
A man has lost his life following a house fire in Frenchpark, Co Roscommon, reports RTE.
Emergency responders were alerted to the incident at a residence within an estate shortly before 7pm Wednesday evening, reports RTE.
Firefighters managed to bring the flames under control, after which a man’s body was discovered at the scene.
His remains have since been transported to University Hospital Galway, where a post-mortem examination will be conducted, reports RTE.
The area has been cordoned off and remains under investigation for a technical assessment.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, though witnesses reported hearing an explosion shortly before the blaze erupted, reports RTE.
