Max von Sydow as Father Merrin in The Exorcist
Veteran actor Max von Sydow has passed away aged 90.
The Swedish actor appeared in dozens of movies throughout his career, but he’s perhaps best remembered for his roles as Father Merrin in The Exorcist (1973), Ming the Merciless in Flash Gordon (1980), and Bond villain Ernst Blofeld in Never say never again (1983).
Later in his career, he featured in Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015), and in three episodes of Game of Thrones as the Three-eyed Raven, a role which earned him a second Emmy nomination.
