Massive praise for Dr Carmen Regan who said “the government aren’t proactive enough and I’m not happy with how they’re performing”




There’s been massive praise for a leading Irish doctor who took the government to task on their lacklustre response to the coronavirus outbreak.

Speaking on Monday night’s Claire Byrne Live, Dr Carmen Regan said that the coronavirus is the biggest health care crisis around the world that we will ever encounter in our lifetime.

Maternal medical expert said that it’s here and it’s serious and it’s getting worse. The reason why it’s so serious is because it’s a virus that is travelling rapidly and has a high rate of mortality.

Once you start to see case to case infection, it means it’s here for a while. When you see your first death from coronavirus, you’re well in.

Within 8 weeks, we will be Italy if we do what the government is doing, which is nothing. We need to be proactive, we need to implement major measures today across a raft of areas.

The doctor said we need to close schools, colleges and have full restrictions now. She said that Italy is infected because it’s so connected to Wuhan through its textile industry, but Taiwan managed to stop the spread because it acted quickly and implemented stringent measures.

She said:
“Our government are not being reactive and proactive enough and I’m not happy with how they’re performing.”

“We have no expectation other than turning out like Italy if we don’t act now.”

She said to the Tanaiste Simon Coveney:
“If it took experts until now to make a decision about St Patrick’s Day parade, then I’m really concerned about who’s advising”a
