A woman in her 70s has died following a fatal collision between two cars on the N21 at Templeglantine West in Co Limerick on Saturday.

Emergency services and Gardaí responded to the incident after receiving reports of the crash, which occurred at approximately 11:50am, reports Breaking News.

The woman, who was the driver of one of the vehicles, was taken to University Hospital Limerick, where she was later pronounced dead.

Another woman, a passenger in the second car and also aged in her 70s, was brought to University Hospital Kerry to receive treatment for injuries that are believed to be non-life-threatening at this time, reports Breaking News.

A forensic examination of the scene will be carried out by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators (FCI).

The road where the collision occurred has since reopened, reports Breaking News.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who was in the area between 11am and 12pm on Saturday to come forward with any relevant information.

They are especially seeking camera footage – including dash-cam – captured on that stretch of road during the specified time, to assist with the investigation, reports Breaking News.
