Tributes pour in for Irish teacher who died after falling from balcony in Thailand

An Irishman who died after a tragic fall from a balcony in Thailand has been named Colm McCarthy, 41, from Cork, reports The Mirror.

Colm, a teacher from Douglas, died Friday morning after falling from the balcony of his apartment in Bangkok.

He worked as an English teacher at a local school in the Bang Khae district. It was reported that he moved to Bangkok to teach English and be closer to his son, CorkBeo reports.

He is survived by his son Finnian, wife Wineta, parents and a large circle of family and friends.

Colm was a former player with Douglas AFC, who paid tribute to him saying: “All in Douglas Hall were saddened to hear of the sudden passing of our former player Colm McCarthy. Our deepest sympathy to parents Mick and Catherine, his sister Emer and his son Finnian. May he Rest in Peace,” reports The Mirror.
