Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a renowned vaccine sceptic and scion of the Kennedy dynasty, has stated that if Donald Trump wins next week’s election, he would have a “big role” in his government, reports RTE.

Speaking to reporters outside a fancy halal restaurant in Dearborn, Michigan, Mr. Trump seemed confident in Mr. Kennedy, who has been spreading false information about vaccines for 20 years, saying he had the qualifications for a top position.

“He’s going to have a big role in healthcare,” Mr Trump declared, adding with a trademark flourish: “He knows about it better than anybody,” reports RTE.

While acknowledging that Mr. Kennedy had “got some views that I happen to agree with very strongly and I have for a long time,” Mr. Trump sidestepped enquiries about whether he approved of Mr. Kennedy’s language over vaccines.

Prior to abandoning his candidacy in August to back the Republican tycoon, Mr. Kennedy, a long-time Democrat, campaigned as an independent earlier in this election season, reports RTE.

He is frequently mentioned as a potential candidate for a cabinet post, with the most common rumours being on the Secretary of Health and Human Services job.

Last week, during a boisterous rally in Madison Square Garden in New York, Mr. Trump hinted that he would let Mr. Kennedy “go wild on health,” although he did not specify exactly what, reports RTE.

A simple majority of 51 votes is required in the Senate to approve cabinet appointees, although the vice president may break ties if necessary.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has emerged as a key player in the worldwide anti-vaccine movement since the middle of the 2000s, reports RTE.

He says the Covid-19 vaccinations are the “deadliest ever made” and that the virus was “ethnically targeted” to kill white people and black people while avoiding “Ashkenazi Jews and Chinese.”

Prior to being passed up, he was a highly regarded climate lawyer and was frequently mentioned as a top contender to oversee the Environmental Protection Agency under previous Democratic President Barack Obama, reports RTE.
