“Try a 12 hour shift with no time for lunch” – mixed reactions to Varadkar’s half a day phone call medical clinic

There have been mixed reactions to the Taoiseach Leo Varadkar declaring that he is back working half a day a week as a doctor.

Varadkar hasn’t worked since 2007 in the medical field but says that he feels he must go back to the field along with all the others in the medical field who aren’t working it at present to help and fight the coronavirus outbreak in Ireland.

Varadkar said that he’s doing a half a day a week as a doctor and will be holding a phone call clinic.

Many on social media say that we need all medical hands on deck and that he should let Simon Coveney work the office of the Taoiseach while Varadkar takes on a real 12 hour shift in a hospital that’s helping to cope with the coronavirus outbreak.

One nurse on social media said:
“Try working a 12 hour shift with no lunch and poor PPE’s and see what you think then Taoiseach”.
