Upwards of 3,000 fatalities have been confirmed after a major earthquake hit Turkey and Syria overnight.
The quake, measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale, struck in the early hours of the morning, local time, causing devastating and widespread structural damage. Many areas have experienced strong aftershocks since.
Rescue efforts are ongoing, and the death toll is expected to rise significantly.
