
Twitter has permanently suspended the US President Donald Trump’s account amid fears of further incitement of violence.
In a move following on from Facebook and Instagram, the social media giant decided to suspend the president’s account following on from events at the US Capitol on Wednesday.
The president’s account which had millions of followers now shows the message “Twitter suspends accounts which violate the Twitter Rules.”
In a post announcing the decision Twitter say : “After close review of recent Tweets from the @realDonaldTrump account and the context around them we have permanently suspended the account due to the risk of further incitement of violence.”
The news comes after the US President initially had his account suspended for 12 hours following riots at the US Capitol building on Wednesday.
