Two bodies have been discovered this evening in the village of Kildysart, Co Clare.
Gardai first found an injured 44-year-old woman on Main Street, at around 7:30. Later, they became aware of a male, aged 27, in a nearby house. The man was in a serious condition when located.
But despite efforts made by local doctors, the pair were pronounced dead a short time later.
The bodies remain at the scene while a forensic examination is carried out.
