Two gardai hailed as heroes for rescuing woman from burning house

A woman was rescued from a burning house in Dublin after two officers climbed through an upstairs window, reports RTE.

A possible arson investigation is underway after a large fire broke out at a house in Burgh an Ree Walk, Clondalkin, at around 1.30am today.

There were four occupants in the home at the time and three were able to get out safely before emergency services arrived.

Two officers used a ladder to get to the back of the house after receiving information that someone might be trapped, reports RTE.

They managed to get in through a window and found a woman in her fifties, whom they brought to safety.

Gardai were taken to hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation before being released.

The woman was also taken to Tallaght Hospital for treatment for injuries which are not expected to be life-threatening

Gardaí said the fire may have been set deliberately and the scene was secured for a technical investigation, reports RTE.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
