The pair’s kayak capsized in stormy conditions in Lough Derg earlier this afternoon.
Irish Coast Guard received a call at around 2:30pm, and the Killaloe unit along with the search and rescue helicopter attended the scene near Holy Island just off Montshannon, in Co. Clare.
The two people were able to make it ashore on their own, but they were said to be exhausted and hypothermic, so they were airlifted to University Hospital Limerick.
