Two members of the Republican Party fined for failing to complete security screenings at the Capitol Building

Two members of the Republican Party have been fined for failing to complete security screenings at the Capitol Building.

House representatives Andrew Clyde of Georgia and Louie Gohmert of Texas received $5,000 fines each. The monies will be deducted from their monthly salary.

Enhanced security measures at the Capitol now include metal detectors, which were erected following the January 6th attack on the Capitol by insurrectionists goaded on by the now disgraced former President Donald Trump. Those failing to comply with screening procedures will be fined $5,000. A second offense will set them back $10,000.
