Gardai in Co Cork have confirmed that two men are currently being held in custody after a man was brutally beaten with an iron bar during an attempted robbery yesterday evening.
It is believed the horrific attack happened as the victim was parking his van in the Churchfield Industrial Estate on the northside of the city at approximately 5pm yesterday evening. The victim is understood to be in his 30s has sustained serious injuries and is in critical condition in Cork University Hospital.
Gardai say two men, who are aged 19 and 25 respectively, have been arrested and are being questioned at Gurranabraher Garda Station.
