Two migrants are standing trial for allegedly falsely imprisoning man at restaurant in Donegal




Trial for allegedly unjustly detaining another man at an Indian restaurant in County Donegal will take place for two brothers, reports The Mirror.

Following the alleged incident at the Taste of India restaurant in Letterkenny on May 20, 2022, the two are scheduled to appear at Letterkenny Circuit Court.

When Prabhjot Singh and Bhupinder Singh appeared at separate Letterkenny District Court sessions, they were served books of evidence.

While Bhupinder Singh is accused of assaulting two individuals, Prabhjot Singh is also facing charges of assault causing hurt, reports The Mirror.

The men have been sent for trial to Letterkenny Circuit Court, with the next sitting scheduled for October 29. Their address is Whitethorn Close in Letterkenny.

There are three alleged crimes against 37-year-old Bhupinder Singh at the eatery on Lower Main Street in Letterkenny.

According to section 15 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act, 1997, he is accused of wrongfully imprisoning Thomas Sweeney, reports The Mirror.

In addition, he faces allegations of assault inflicting hurt on two individuals, Ciaran Hunter and Thomas Sweeney, which are under section 3 of the Non-Fatal Offences under the Person Act, 1997.

Police Judge Eiteain Cunningham was informed by Gillian Page that the book of evidence was served, reports The Mirror.

Prabhjot Singh, 36, was handed a book of evidence during a previous Letterkenny District Court session.

Police Pauline Doherty testified that she had served the accused individuals with the book of evidence.

He is accused of imprisoning Thomas Sweeney without authorisation on May 20, 2022, at Taste of India, Lower Main Street, Letterkenny, reports The Mirror.
