Two screenings of the controversial movie Joker had to be cancelled in California after police cited a ‘credible threat.’

The movie, starring Joaquim Phoenix, depicts the origins of Batman’s arch-enemy The Joker.

Police were called to a cinema in Huntington Beach, California, on Thursday night (opening night), and people were moved away from the premises. The nature of the threat was not disclosed.
