UK government advisor warns pubs may have to close once again and army may be needed to maintain public order in places

One of the UK government’s senior scientific advisors, Professor Graham Medley, has warned that “further interventions” may be necessary to allow pupils to return to school later this month including shutting pubs back down in a trade off to reduce public interactions the Daily Mail reports.

These comments are sure to provoke concern among the British public and follow a warning form the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (Sage) that growing anger with Covid-19 lockdowns and emergency measure could result in social unrest and riots.

UK police have already warned Downing Street that the army may be required to help maintain order on English streets as discontent with the lockdown continues to grow.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said recently that his government was slowing down plans to end the Covid-19 lockdown amid an increase in cases and fears of a second wave of the virus across Europe.
