A devastating long-range Ukrainian strike has laid waste to two entire Russian airfields, with massive damage reported at both facilities.
Dubbed ‘Operation Dragonfly’, the operation reportedly involved US-donated ATACMS missiles launched against airfields located in Berdyansk and Luhansk overnight.
The operation culminated with the destruction of no fewer than 9 helicopters, one air defence system, an ammunition warehouse, and a yet undetermined number of troops and air crews. The loss of another 9 aircraft represents a critical hit to Russia’s ability to provide close air support and transport operations in both sectors.
This is the first confirmed use of long-range ATACMS weapons, which had long been sought after by Ukraine. With a range of up to 500km, ATACMS can be launched from HIMARS platforms, which Ukraine has already used multiple times to devastating effect.
