Ukrainian troops have reportedly been given a hero’s welcome by joyful crowds after retaking Kherson.
Kherson was the only major city that Russia had managed to take and hold -at an incredibly steep price in terms of bloodshed and war material- in the nine-month-long campaign.
Ukraine has now reclaimed the city, following a desperate and chaotic retreat by Russian troops, who faced encirclement and destruction.
