Temperatures hit 17.5C in some parts of the country today, far above the average temperature for the time of year in Ireland.

According to Met Eireann, last night marked the highest-ever minimum temperature for a night in November, with 15.5C. Average minimum temperatures for November nights would normally be in the 3-7C range.

Weather experts agree that climate change is to blame for this unusual weather pattern.
