According to Russia, US lawmakers’ backing for an additional €57 billion in aid for Ukraine indicates that Washington is delving even farther into a hybrid war against Moscow, which would culminate in humiliation comparable to that of the Vietnam or Afghanistan wars, reports RTE.

According to Russian and US diplomats, President Vladimir Putin’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022 has caused the biggest rift in ties between Russia and the West since the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis.

Despite strong opposition from certain far-right Republicans, the US House of Representatives yesterday passed a €89 billion legislation package that would provide security aid to Taiwan, Israel, and Ukraine, reports RTE.

The measure had wide bipartisan support.

According to Maria Zakharova, a spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, it is evident that the US wants Ukraine “to fight to the last Ukrainian,” including by attacking Russian citizens and sovereign land.

“Washington’s deeper and deeper immersion in the hybrid war against Russia will turn into a loud and humiliating fiasco for United States such as Vietnam and Afghanistan,” Ms Zakharova said, reports RTE.
