Uproar as people can attend a wedding with 50 strangers but can’t have more than 6 people in their own home

There’s been uproar online since Tuesday’s government press briefing that announced new restrictions across the board.

People can still go to weddings with a maximum of 50 people allowed. However they can’t have more than 6 people in their own house.

All outdoor events will be capped at 15 people down from the current number of 200 people, with new strict limits on public gatherings agreed this afternoon by the government.

Under restrictions that apply until September 13th at the earliest, indoor events are limited to six instead of 50 people, with the exception of church services such as Mass and companies such as shops and restaurants which are now subject to separate rules.

Weddings are exempt from the new restrictions, which means they can continue to be held with 50 people.
