Met Eireann has issued an urgent statement to extend the existing weather warnings until Monday, after heavy snow fell across many parts of Ireland throughout the afternoon and evening.
Though much of the snowfalls will begin clear soon, freezing conditions will remain overnight, likely causing hazardous driving conditions in Monday’s rush hour.
The weather warnings will now be in effect until 8am on Monday morning.
Motorists and pedestrians are urged to exercise extreme caution while out on the roads or streets, as ice formation is likely.
