President Obama spoke just hours after several airstrikes were carried out by an US-Arab military coalition against IS targets in Syria.
According to post-action reports, training compounds, headquarters and command and control facilities, storage facilities, a finance centre, supply trucks and armed vehicles were either destroyed or badly damaged. An undetermined numbers of militants were also killed in the attacks.
Barack Obama said during his speech at the White House that “America is proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with these nations on behalf of our common security.” and added that “This is not America’s fight alone.”
