Varadkar: I have a real fear that a migrant could be killed in anti-migrant attacks

Leo Varadkar, the Taoiseach, expressed his “true fear” that someone would be killed in arson assaults on buildings designated for migrants, reports Independent.

As they become “potential targets,” he said, gardaí are aware of the risks for future or current premises.

“The gardaí are very much aware of the risks that arise, not just when we seek to establish a new accommodation centre, but also when it comes to existing ones as well that sadly are potential targets.he said, reports Independent.

He was saying this in response to reports that many homes that were either intended for or thought to be used as lodging facilities had been set on fire in what appeared to be arson attacks.

“I do have a real fear that somebody could be very severely injured, or somebody could lose their life because of somebody attacking either a proposed centre or even an existing centre,” he said, reports Independent.
