Varadkar: If the Leaving Cert is cancelled, we need an alternative that’s fair

The Taoiseach Leo Varadkar said that if the Leaving Cert is not to go ahead and start on July 29th that there must be a fair alternative, whatever that may be.

There has much talk over the past number of days that the upcoming proposed date to start the Leaving Cert just isn’t fair on students who are still left up in the air as to whether it really is starting or not.

Some options on the table are for student’s average marks over the course of the last school year to be given to each subject, however many feel that this would be highly unfair.

Varadkar said that they will try and work out a solution by end of this week.
