Varadkar: “Measures outlined in this year’s budget will go a long way by putting money back in people’s pockets”

The Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has revealed that he is more than happy with this year’s Budget and has said the proposals outlined earlier this week are small steps in the right direction.

Mr Varadkar who was speaking to RTE News following the Budget also said what was outlined by the Finance Minister Paschal Donohoe on Tuesday will aim to avoid the boom and bust policies of the past.

Speaking to RTE News, Mr Varadkar said that he is satisfied on what he and the Government achieved in terms of spending, the Taoiseach also said although the welfare and tax cuts ‘modest’, he insisted that the measures introduced by Mr Donohoe this week will go a long way by putting money ‘back in people’s pockets.’

He added: “It’s all small steps in the right direction, but sustainable steps.”
