‘The ignorant mind, with its infinite afflictions, passions, and evils, is rooted in three poisons; greed, anger, and delusion.’
So the saying goes. And Mr. Varadkar, never one to make particularly smart comments, so spoke today, pondering why people would fret about paying three coins a week, thus entirely missing -or deliberately ignoring- the point of the protests against water charges.
It’s easy to dismiss three pieces of silver for those who dine with cutlery made of the same material, for those who make the rules, and those for whom austerity is but a four letter word to be thrown on others.
What Mr. Varadkar doesn’t realize is that those very same three pieces of silver will be the Government’s own Charon’s Obol.
