The shocking moment of a broad daylight attack on Gardai by mobs in Dublin was caught on camera and uploaded to social media.
Several bottles and rockets were fired on Monday at plainclothes officers in Ballyfermot in south-west Dublin ending up on social media.
The clip shows an officer retreating after being hit in the face by a bottle.
Several people are then seen running at the officer’s colleague, who takes away his asp stick to protect himself, even though he doesn’t hit anyone.
The crowd jeers at the officers as they return to the safety of their unmarked car – the driver still has his baton outstretched and ready for use.
The Garda Press Office was contacted for comment but haven’t commented on the incident. It’s not yet determined whether any injuries were suffered during the confrontation.
