Growing numbers of “Irish veterans are becoming homeless” as government spends Irish taxpayer money to house refugees #IrelandisFull

There are increasing instances of homelessness amongst both serving and veteran members of the Irish Defence Forces as the record breaking tragedy of homelessness amongst Irish people continues while government turns blind eye.

Cormac Kirwan, chief executive of the Organisation for National Ex-Service Personnel (ONE), told RTÉ radio’s Morning Ireland that there is a growing numbers of former military personnel seeking assistance due to the cost-of-living crisis in the country.

ONE costs roughly €1.1 million a year to operate the service with less than half, €500,000 coming from the State while the €600,000 remainder must be raised through appeals to the public.

While veterans of the Irish military as well as many other Irish people languish in homelessness or are barred by the housing shortage from owning their own homes the government is going ahead with plans to construct modular housing units for refugees.

These modular housing developments, despite being build by the Irish government with Irish taxpayers money will not be made available to Irish people.
