Vote No! Mother of four disabled kids calls for No vote in Friday’s referendum

Calling for a no vote in the care referendum, the mother of four handicapped children who offers round-the-clock care claims her family is not granted any rights by the proposed change, reports Breaking News.

The language, according to Co Kildare resident Samantha Kenny, implies that her kids and others would be “reduced to a burden of care.”

She said that although the language acknowledges the importance of family care, it ignores her children’s right to autonomy and choice.

Samantha is a mother of four children, ages eight, sixteen, and twelve, reports Breaking News.

Wolf-Hirschhorn syndrome-afflicted Ava, her youngest child, is under her full-time care.

“We have everything in our house from learning disabilities, to neuro divergences, to physical disabilities,” Ms Kenny told the PA news agency, reports Breaking News.

“I’ve been a carer for the last 10 years and I am currently doing a college course because the cost of living means that I have to re-enter the workforce whether I like it or not,” she added, reports Breaking News.
