The mighty, 700ft high Mayo peak has taken its toll today, as a penitent has suffered a suspected heart attack while walking up the mountain, and had to be rushed to hospital.
Over 25,000 people are expected to take part in a gruelling march up Croagh Patrick today, as part of Reek Sunday.
Walkers are advised to avoid the trial if they suffer any significant medical condition, despite the spiritual goodness that the challenge may potentially yield.
Those who do undertake it are also advised to bring -healthy- snacks and plenty water.
