We are at a crossroads: Taoiseach urges public to stay at home in order to keep virus under control

The Taoiseach Micheal Martin has urged the public not to meet up on St Patrick’s Day saying that the country is at a crossroads and we must keep the virus under control.

In a statement, the Taoiseach said that although today is a day that we normally celebrate with family and friends we must continue to follow public health guidelines in order to keep everyone safe.

The Taoiseach also said that the country has made an enormous effort to surpress the Covid-19 virus and it has reduced a great amount of pressure on our health service, but we must congregate in large gatherings or meet up with others outside our home as it would undermine all the sacrifices we have made.

The Taoiseach continued by stating that the country will celebrate St Patrick’s Day again and the country is moving in the right direction. He also said that our Covid-19 vaccine roll-out supply will increase and we will get them to people as questioned as we can.

He added that there can be no better way to honour our people in 2021 than to stay focused and avoid another wave of infection with this terrible virus.
