Weather experts warn Irish public to take sunscreen with them as temperatures set to soar this week

A weather expert has advised the public to “remember the sunscreen” this week as temperatures are expected to rise to 17°C in the coming days, reports The Mirror.

Ireland experienced unusually warm and sunny weather on Sunday, and the settled conditions are set to extend into the beginning of April.

A system of high pressure will push temperatures up to a potential high of 17°C by Friday, with weather expert Alan O’Reilly from Carlow Weather predicting “a fine week ahead.”

In his latest forecast, O’Reilly stated: “A mild and cloudy start to the week but dry for most. Sunny spells will develop in the South this afternoon and slowly extend North. A fine week ahead with only risk of some rain on Thursday near South coast. Enjoy and remember the sunscreen,” reports The Mirror.

On Monday, O’Reilly provided another update, noting that the latest weather models indicate little to no rainfall in Ireland over the next two weeks.

“High pressure in control of the weather. If you look here at the total rainfall forecast you can see very little if anything expected for most of Ireland for the next two weeks,” he said, reports The Mirror.

“Now obviously, beyond a week is a little bit uncertain and it could change but it is looking very dry,” reports The Mirror.

Met Éireann’s latest outlook is also promising. The national forecaster predicts that Monday will be mostly dry with a combination of cloud and hazy sunshine, along with just a few isolated light showers. Sunnier conditions will spread from the south later, with maximum temperatures ranging from 13°C to 17°C.

Tuesday is expected to be another dry day featuring widespread sunshine and temperatures peaking between 11°C and 15°C, reports The Mirror.

Met Éireann has forecast that Wednesday will be “a fine day” with abundant sunshine, while Thursday is also expected to be dry and sunny, with temperatures reaching up to 16°C in certain areas.

Friday will continue the dry and sunny spell as temperatures climb to a pleasant 17°C. Early indications suggest that the weekend will remain largely settled, though Met Éireann warns there may be slightly more cloud cover, with temperatures cooling somewhat, reports The Mirror.
