Weather update: Frost and subzero temperatures forecast for Saturday and Sunday night

The weather for the upcoming May Bank Holiday weekend is expected to be a mixed bag of sunshine, showers, and subzero temperatures during the night.

Daytime temperatures will reach a moderate 13-14C on Saturday and Sunday, with cloudy periods but sunshine also breaking through during the day.

Things will take a turn for the worse at night though, as the thermometer is forecast to dip to below freezing at times, giving rise to widespread frost, particularly on Saturday night.

The good news is that it will remain largely dry over the long weekend, with just the odd shower across northern coastal areas.
