A Status Yellow weather warning is now in effect for five counties, due to heavy and persistent rainfall and the possibility of localised flooding.
The warning covers counties Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, and Sligo, and will remain in place until midnight tonight.
The weather is forecast to improve significantly from today on, with temperatures reaching 20C, but parts of the north will still see heavy showers for a time.
