High-profile missing person investigator Mark Williams-Thomas publicly updated on his investigation into the case on Friday. Jay Slater, 19, went missing on Monday, June 17, reports The Mirror.
The teen had woken up in an unfamiliar Airbnb in Tenerife, far from his friends with whom he had travelled for what should have been a fun first holiday abroad without his family.
Despite Spanish authorities wrapping up their search, relatives and friends continue to look for the apprentice bricklayer, and it’s hoped a “significant new piece of information” could finally shed some light on the mystery, reports The Mirror.
He implied that Jay had fled the rented property ‘obviously afraid for his personal safety’. “We now know that Jay took certain actions while at the rental because he was obviously worried about his own safety,” the TV investigator stated. This was just before he made the decision to go.
“In the last few days I received a significant new piece of information which I shared with both the British and Spanish police. This provides some clarity as to why he may have left in a hurry and did not want to return to the rental even though his phone was about to go flat,” reports The Mirror.
