Hasan Al Gori, 51 old and without a permanent address, is facing a murder charge in connection with the death of 89-yr-old Josephine ‘Josie’ Ray, whose body was discovered at St Joseph’s Park in Nenagh on Sunday, 4 August 2024, reports RTE.
Detective Garda Padraig O’Leary told Nenagh District Court that he had arrested and charged Mr Al Gori at 10.04am.
He stated that upon being charged and cautioned, the accused responded, “I know nothing, sir”, reports RTE.
No bail request was made during the hearing, as the District Court does not have the authority to grant bail in murder cases.
Mr Al Gori’s defence solicitor, Colin Morrissey, submitted a request for free legal aid on behalf of his client, reports RTE.
Judge Fiona Brennan ordered that Mr Al Gori be held in custody and appear again before Nenagh District Court by video link on 23 October.
