Some habits die hard in this country, it seems, as a frankly shocking 165 people were arrested over the August Bank Holiday weekend on suspicion of drink-driving.
The astounding figure is up 32 from the same period last year, and in fact, the number of people arrested for drink driving last month (719) was up 18% from July 2015 (608).
In total, 21 people died on Irish roads during the month of July alone.
