A mother claims that was left with “blistered and bloody” lips after using a balm which was supposed to soothe and moisturise.
Laura Renton bought Carmex cherry balm in a supermarket. When she put it on, Laura says she could feel her lips tingling and a burning sensation, but thought that was a normal reaction.
It turns out that it wasn’t normal, at all. She applied a second layer and she says it resulted in badly torn and badly bruised lips.
According to the Metro, Laura said:
“I could feel it burning at first and thought it was just normal. I didn’t think anything of it after the first application. But then, after I put it on a second time they blistered and started to bleed.”
She says she uses lip balms often and had never tried the Carmex brand before.
She took various photos and posted them on social media warning others of the dangers of such balm and hoping they’re share them.
She said:
“I’ve had people messaging me back saying it does burn”
“I have a little girl as well, I don’t want her to pick it up and use it.”
It’s understood that she has contacted the brand but hasn’t received a reply of as yet.
