Woman critically injured in M50 car accident has passed away




the-scene-on-the-m50-on-wednesday-morningA woman who was critically injured in a car accident on the M50 last Wednesday has sadly passed way. The woman died in hospital after suffering serious injuries when the car she was driving collided with two lorries at about 5:30am.

She has been named as Martina Loughlin, 47, from Edenderry, Co Offaly. The woman was moved by ambulance to Tallaght Hospital but sadly lost her fight for life this morning. The accident caused major disruptions to traffic with the southbound route closing for a number of hours after the collision. It is understood that Martina was travelling to work when the collision occurred.

Gardaí urge witnesses to the collision to contact them at Lucan Garda Station on 01-6667300, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800-666111 or any garda station. Those who were travelling on the M50 southbound between junctions 6 (Blanchardstown) and 9 (Red Cow) or who may have merged onto the M50 Southbound at the junction 7 (Lucan) via the N4 Eastbound/Westbound between 5am and 5.45am are asked to contact the Gardaí.
