Woman passes away after another tragedy on the roads




A 50-year-old woman died after a two-car collision in Co Leitrim last night, reports RTE.

The incident happened on the R280 at Lisnabrack in Carrick-on-Shannon shortly before 6pm.

A moment later, the woman who was a passenger in one of the vehicles was pronounced dead at the scene.

The drivers of both vehicles were taken to Sligo University Hospital for treatment and assessment, reports RTE.

Their injuries are not life-threatening.

Garda forensic investigators will be examining the scene today and the road to the crash site remains closed and local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact them.
