The Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group has been deployed to the Gulf region, in response to a perceived threat to American forces in the area posed by Iran.
The strategic deployment comes on foot of intelligence gathered about Iran’s potential escalation of violence against US interest in the region.
US National Security Adviser John Bolton said that the US is ‘prepared to respond to any attack’ by Iran.
