Wrap up warm, as Met Eireann predicts a cold spell over the next couple of days, with wintry showers and frost predicted

Wrap up warm this weekend, as Met Eireann has predicted a rather cold couple of days ahead.

Wintry showers and frost are in store for the weekend, and early next week.

Friday will remain relatively dry during the day, but wintry showers are forecast for the coming night, with lows of 1C-2C.

Miserable weather is set to take hold from Saturday on, as a band of showery rain moves eastwards across the country. There is a high likelihood of sleet showers, particularly over high ground.

A similar pattern of cold and blustery weather will remain until at least Monday.
