In yet another failed initiative, the HSE’s drive to lure nurses back to Ireland has so far yielded only 83 people.
A relocation package including up to €1,500 tax-free removal & relocation expenses was offered to nurses working abroad, if they decided to return to Ireland to work.
But the scheme appears to have failed spectacularly, as very low numbers have actually come back.
In light of the failure, Minister for Health Simon Harris said “When I talk to healthcare professionals, when I talk to managers, when I talk to patients groups, I don’t think it’s fair to say people are fed up with reform in the health service.”
“But they’re fed up with little bits of reform, and fed up of never getting to complete the journey.”
