The cold snap currently gripping the country shows no signs of abating.

Wrap up warm tonight and have those electric blankets at the ready cause it’s going to be a cold night, with temperatures of minus five expected in places.

Widespread frost and ice will be likely towards dawn, with the possibility of up to 3cm of snow, mostly in the west and north.

The rest of the week will remain cold, but mostly dry. The frosty weather is expected to continue into next weekend.
